"a very pleasant stay, friendly and helpful staff. would like to have known that one of the rooms we had booked was different in that the en suite was smaller and had no bath." (97007937)
very friendly and helpful staff and very comfortable and pleasant accomodation
we were with a person with disabilities and some of the doors and corridors were a bit narrow in places

"One of the things that puzzled me was that the rooms were advertised as without breakfast but on booking, I was pleasantly surprised that it stated price included buffet breakfast. This then influenced my choice to go ahead with the booking. The write up was informative enough but it would have helped if it could state that the SECC was within 15 minutes walk etc. It would also help them to advertise their restaurant which serves excellent food for dinner. The general cleanliness within was good and my ensuite bedroom was clean and comfortable. Overall a pleasant hotel and good value for money." (97675899)
It was comfortable and eventhough I was in a room on the ground floor facing the street, it was quiet and peaceful. It is convenient to the town centre and the SECC was nearby 10 mins walk which was excellent for me.
Nothing within but the outside basement area was a bit cluttered with bits of furniture/wood. Tidying this area up would be nice.

"Good hotel with very pleasant staff." (97305832)
Good buffet breakfast, good access to university campus.
A little to far from the city centre, access to parking was prone to litter/ broken glass.

"My stay as always was very good, however I was disapointed with the receptionist's attitude when leaving. It would not hurt to smile, and thanks for my custom and safe journey. This spoiled an excellent stay, but this incident will not put me off coming back. Yours David Singleton." (99990083)

"Unfortuneately I did not know the area & was unsure where to go to visit if i had been there longer I would have gone on one of the guided bus tours.I also did not receive the hotel booklet in my room until the second day. I would have liked to have received this in my room when i got there. I also found it frustrating that the bar was closed at 10.00pm as i would have liked to have sat in the bar rather than go next door to the pub. Other than that i found my stay very enjoyable." (97460053)
I felt it was very clean

"I booked for 5 female adults as we were celebrating 3 birthdays and were going shopping and then for a night out. The room had a double and 3 single beds. The staff had actually put an extra single bed in for our convenience which was very thoughtful and even then there was still plenty of room! The breakfast was very nice and plenty of choice available. If I was coming to Glasgow for a girls night out again I would certainly book with the Argyll Hotel." (97450946)
The Accommodation was excellent! There are not many places you can get a family room for 5-6 adults and at a very reasonable price!
The shower was a bit diffucult to turn off but we managed between us!

Was very pleased with the accomidation." (97406457)

Friendly helpful staff
Needs updated, furnishings worn, bathroom fittings out dated, not matching. Couldn't plug my phone charger in as there wasn't enough space between the shelf and plug socket. I stayed three days onmy own, I should have been contactable for work and I had no phone at the end of my stay.

Housekeepers bothered me too much. I was out three hours so they had a time to clean my room but they wanted to clean when I came back.

I thought they were very nice and the restaurant on site was excellent.
I thought it was a little far from the main part of the city and made it a little cumbersome to travel in and out of the heart of Glasgow.

"I plan to return, with my wife, for a holiday visit to Scotland in the near future. we will definitely stay at the Argyll. What a delight. Though the Wi-fi connection did not work properly, the staff had an ethernet connection in the lobby which I was allowed to use gratis. The staff were unfailingly courteous and helpful. This is also one of the very few times when the hotel lives up to (and exceeds) the promotional information." (3304859727)
The Sutherland Restaurant was an unexpected gem of a surprise. World class cuisine in the ambience of a small hotel with a homey atmosphere make this an almost unique phenomenon.
My stay was too short, and it was for business. The wi-fi connection did not work properly.

"I enjoyed my stay and I slept very well in spite of the very hot weather at that time. The hotel is and feels friendly and is well docorated. The flowers at the entrance of the hotel are a nice touch too." (3304956766)
Proper bed pillows, relatively quiet, opening window. Room clean also smelt clean, (some hotels still have that musty smokey atmosphere, the Argyll didn't). I liked the provision of kettle, tea etc. hairdrier, two phones (one in bathroom) and much wardrobe and drawer space. I especially liked the breakfast, very tasty and a great choice plus excellent service and good fresh filter coffee. Dinner was good though the food could have been hotter.
The TV didn't work too well. It would be nice to have a small bottle of complimentary hair conditioner as well as the shampoo.

"I guessed that the hotel was near the SECC so I was pleasantly surprised to find a map with clear directions to my destination at reception. I expected a little noise on Sauchiehall St, but heard absolutely nothing through the night. As a previous resident of Glasgow I remembered the hanging baskets and flowers outside the hotel and had always been impressed by how welcoming it looked. When I finally had the opportunity to stay, I was not disappointed." (3304805410)

"The hotel itself was pleasant enough, though the room was quite small and crowded for two people. The lack of assistance up the outside steps and into the lobby was a problem for us and any people with mobility problems (I was travelling with my mother, who has had hip surgery) should choose another hotel. The immediate neighborhood was run down and not as nice as I had hoped. In future I would stay nearer the University or the city center." (3304487340)
Location near the art galleries at the University. Cleanliness of room and pleasant staff.
No assistance up outside stairs to lobby of hotel. I was travelling with my 80-year old mother and had to struggle by myself with heavy luggage up the stairs.

"My wife and I were very happy with our stay at the 'Argyle'. We must send the chef(s) our compliments, the quality of food in the restaurant was absolutely superb. The haggis was to die for, highly recommended. If there was anything to gripe about it would be the television in the bar, was a bit loud at times but would be better not there at all with light background music instead." (3304355890)

Close by the University and 'homely'
I know it's not easy with an old building, but the walls between rooms are not exactly soundproof and this is something that can not be easily rectified without major structural work'but one gets what one pays for I suppose. Two other thingsthere was no shaver plug in the bathroom which would have been a problem had I been staying longer, and I know it's down to personal preference, but I have slept in much more comfortable beds in my travels.

"When booking online it stated check-in time was 'lunchtime'. When we arrived at 12.30pm we were told check-in was 2.00pm, this should have been made clear online. For the price paid I would have expected a larger room with more professional finishings. The room reminded me of overnight stays at my Gran's house in my youth. The shower was very poor with little water pressure. If this had been a £50 per night bed and breakfast it would have been fine. For £72 and 3 stars I expect a bit more." (1673411)
Clean.
Small Room. Poor interior finishing. Shower pressure very poor. No satellite TV.
